Confirmation

The Confirmation preparation process guides the candidate into the experience of the fullness of the Holy Spirit through the completion of the Sacraments of Initiation. Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by the outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seals one’s baptism and unites the believer intimately to Christ and equips one to live as a disciple.

Confirmation for adults is available for those 18 and older who have received the Sacrament of the Eucharist and catechesis in the Catholic faith through eighth grade.

For more information, Contact the Religious Ed. office Immaculate Conception.

Our Curricula for Confirmation!  We offer two curricula!

Chosen utilizes a powerful and effective methodology with lessons designed to capture teens’ attention and present the faith in new and unexpected ways. Featuring multiple dynamic presenters in visually stunning, fast-paced videos, along with fully integrated written materials for students and leaders as well as a rich offering of free, online resources, Chosen is unlike anything available in the Church today.

We have a multi-generational approach to the sacramental preparation process.  We ask that the sponsor or parent or another adult attend the learning sessions with their candidate.  This model provides for lifelong learning on the part of the adult and it supports the candidate and sponsor/parent in sharing their faith together.

YDisciples Confirmation: Every year, millions of Catholics receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in their parishes. It is one of the three sacraments of initiation (CCC 1212) that bestows the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, and empowers Catholics to go and spread the Gospel to all the world. The Holy Spirit is powerful, and many great miracles and mighty works have been accomplished through him. When the Apostles were filled with the Holy Spirit, they became some of the most influential people in the world.

So why don't we see the same power of the Holy Spirit in the lives of so many Catholics today? Why do we not see the Church and the Gospel spread by the millions of Catholics who received the Sacrament of Confirmation? Could it be that, too often, Confirmation seems like a graduation or ending of faith formation? Or, is there a lack of understanding on the part of the Confirmandi of what is actually taking place in the Rite? Whatever the reason, it is the case that confirmed Catholics who have not been moved to mission are failing to cooperate with the grace of the Holy Spirit. YDisciple: Confirmation digs deep into the presence and power of the Holy Spirit throughout salvation history, how he works in our lives today, the powerful signs and symbols in the Rite of Confirmation, and our mission in the world as confirmed Catholics. https://formed.org/study/5602d3f82c360d300a30888e
